just saw this movie at SF Film Festival. I loved it. Why? It combines different levels of entertainment: the intellectual mathematics involved and the facts of the academic competition; the historical and cultural conflicts between Indian and English traditions, attitudes, prejudices and beliefs; emotional love / friendship between people, between men and women and between children and parents; and cruelty to other people, warmongers vs. pacifists, religious versus secular, the individual vs. group, misunderstandings and lack of emotional intelligence in many ways. I understood very little math involved, but that did not matter and does not change my overall rating for the story and all levels concerned. Kudos to everyone who made this film.
